About Vertical Green
Our Mission
At Vertical Green, we strive to provide high-quality Staghorns and Elkhorns that are ethically collected from Macadamia Farms. We work closely with the farmers to ensure we have an ongoing supply of fresh and healthy plants so you can be ensured your plant will be of the highest quality.
We are fully licensed through National Parks and each plant will come with their own license number.
Our backing boards are made of salvaged rainforest hardwood supplied by the guys at Big Scrub Salvage. All their timber is salvaged wood collected locally.
Staghorns and Macadamia Trees
Staghorns and Macadamia trees have a symbiotic relationship that begun in the rainforests of the Northern Rivers thousands of years ago. They happily coexist together.
Bring on mass farming of the Macadamia and the Staghorn and Elkhorn spore still find their way to the Macadamias.
Most of the Macadamia farmers are happy with the association but some aren't, they believe rats will build nests in them and eat all the nuts. They will poison the plants or pull them off and mow them. These are not the farmers we work with.
We work with the farmers who cherish the association and allow the Staghorns to flourish because of this we are able to select mature five year old plants that are established.
Staghorns are phototropic and will take time to adjust to a new position so we will endeavour to find a plant for your situation that grew in the same direction to suit your site. This allows for the quickest establishment and the happiest of plants.
Deliveries
We have regular shipments going to Sydney monthly, and with local orders we are happy to deliver to your door.
We work closely with wholesale nurseries and can have our stock delivered to Nursery traders such as Alpine Nurseries and Parkers Place Nursery and can deliver up and down the East Coast of Australia
